The new LOTUS jacket line was born from our trip to Sri Lanka

The Lotus flower, a symbol of flair and elegance, blossoms daily in the fresh waters
of Southeast Asian ponds, embodying femininity, passion, and inspiration.

 

 

This is precisely the essence of the new Lotus line, which with its colors
and shapes enhances feminine delicacy and elegance, and just like the Lotus flower,
it aims to be long-lasting, refined, and timeless.

The Batik technique:
a centuries-old manual art

A first step towards the creation of Lotus was the selection
of fabrics that recall the vibrant and harmonious colors of the Sinhalese landscapes,
such as the blue of the sea and the pink of the flowers. In our research, we discovered
some gems of the Sinhalese textile tradition. Batik is a cotton printing technique
originating in Indonesia and has been an integral part of Sinhalese textile craftsmanship
for centuries.

The process involves applying liquid wax to designs
traced onto a neutral cotton fabric. When the fabric is immersed
in the dye bath, the wax coating prevents the colors from penetrating.
The final result is a colorful fabric depicting animals, flowers,
enchanting sunsets, and landscapes.

The work is carried out manually by skilled artisans, using
exclusively natural fabrics and dyes, with no material waste.
In essence, the art of batik enhances traditional craftsmanship and the use
of high-quality sustainable materials while maintaining the colors
and forms linked to its land. The Lotus line will allow you to enrich
your wardrobe with an exotic and refined garment.

 

Style in harmony with nature

Having found the fabrics, the goal is to design garments that are comfortable,
with a great fit that adapts to the body so that anyone who wears them feels confident
and at ease. Our clothes aim to enhance the unique beauty
of each figure without stifling it to conform to unreasonable standards
and customs.

The architect Geoffrey Bawa expresses a similar idea through
his buildings, perfectly cohesive with nature. Bawa blends European-style interior spaces
with the wild vegetation of the hinterland, using decorative elements inspired
by historical Sinhalese traditions. His works manage to be surprising, imposing,
and innovative, without overpowering the surrounding environment.
